Lighthouse Landing Waterfront Development -- St. Louis, Missouri
Lighthouse Landing
The Project Vision started with the purchase of the 70-acre riverfront property in 1999 with the long-term vision of creating a riverfront family entertainment destination. The property had previously been a 9-hole public golf course. The golf course was flooded out in 1993 and again in 1995. The site was in a floodplain, floodway and contained designated wetlands.
The current owners worked with the Corps of Engineers, Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the City of St. Louis to perform the required engineering and hydraulic studies and in 2007, secured the necessary permits to allow the site to be filled. The owners created an off-site wetland per the Corps of Engineers mitigation plan and filled the site to the 100 year BFE. In 2016, the site was removed from the FEMA Flood Maps.
The following year, the site was rezoned by the City of St. Louis to allow for the development of Lighthouse Landing. UpVibe Development has the property under contract and has assembled a solid development team and funding partner. The plan is to close on the property by the end of September 2021.
Lighthouse Landing, with a ½ mile of riverfront, located on the banks of the Mississippi River at I-270 in St. Louis, Missouri. We will partner with the zoo to “theme” several of our attractions with wildlife characters and designs. The Zoo is looking to co-brand our project as our location is right on the river and just off the expressway to the planned entrance to the new multimillion-dollar zoo safari park.
